No matter who you are, why you’re here, or where you come from, I know the true meaning of life is different for everyone.
I framed and kept it in my mind as a reminder that life is an intricate, complex layer of experiences.
I used to think being a musician in a big city would bring me joy.
I thought I had it all figured out.
I would start performing on a small stage to a large stage to make good money.
All of my dreams were about to come true, yet I still found myself feeling empty.
My soul was not satisfied; I was longing for something else.
I believe we are here on earth for a reason.
As a child, I remember praying to God and asking, “Please make my dreams come true.” As a college student, I’d ask myself, “What am I doing with my life? Why am I here?”
I felt like I was searching for treasure that would bring me happiness…
Only to become disillusioned after I found it.
I believe we all have power, some sort of talent that comes to us naturally, but it isn’t about discovering this gift and keeping it to yourself.
Use your power to serve others that will bring them joy.
I am grateful to use my power of poetry to connect with people and to tell my stories to spark change.
It doesn’t take much to give back as I found the joy that I was searching for far too long.
